11th February 2007
Windsurfing: Pevensey Bay
Wind Direction: SW - W
Wind Stength: F4-F6
Surf / Sea State: nice waves then flattened off.
Air Temperature: 10+ degC
Sea Temperature: chilly but quite bea
Weather: pi55ing down at first, but then sunny and windy
Max Speed:
Distance Covered:

Only me & PaulP went out (though a couple of other motley crue rocked up and opted out) ... Paul getting the first run out on his Syncro & 5.8m, returned cursing the rip but saying plenty of sail with 5.8m. He switched to his Hawk to head back out, joining me on my 5.6m Remedy & Rocket 64 (115 ltr).

Was overpowered briefly, but was really surprised how easy the Rocket was to use with 5.6m, thinking it might be a bit 'flighty', especially with the std 36cm fin. As it happened the only flighty bits were when I hit a suitable ramp & headed skywards.

Typically, as the tide turned, the wind dropped and swung more cross-off and I was heading for Cooden. Took a long (much longer than I would normally consider sensible this time of year) run way out the back (some pretty big rolling swell out there!) chasing decent wind to regain some ground upwind, before eventually picking up a cross-off windshift to conveyor belt me almost parallel to the beach to regain position.

Few more runs as wind filled in a bit more but it was swinging cross to cross-off so Paul & I binned it before it dropped and swung pretty much offshore.

Hindsight would suggest Cooden as a spot which would have scored decent conditions all day. Ho hum .... not grumbling, tho I kinda wish I'd taken the 6.4m out, at least over the period where planing was really marginal occurance. That said, at times 5.0m would have been stacks .... so guess that bigger board and smaller sail was about right all things considered.

Not a classic, but have chalked up a February session in the sunshine in the UK, while now limited to weekend only TOW (until the clocks change at least!)
